The latest version comes with access to an extensive video learning center, additional camera compatibility and revised pricing of up to $50 off. Thanks Brian, much appreciated for your help.LightZone 3.5 has been released, new and improved, with a price drop to boot. Thanks for the advice, I will download it and try it. Both have a learning curve so I suggest downloading both and seeing which one works best for you. I don't think either program is more complex than the other. I have both on my Win 7 but I do most raw processing in Photoshop CC. To be honest I don't use either Raw Therapee or Lightzone often. ![]() Raw therapeutic how does that compare with light zone cheers steve Thanks brian, I heard raw therapeutic is quite complex. I've never used .Īnother free raw processor to look at is Raw Therapee: Gimp can handle raw (with the ufRaw plug in). That said, they are very useful to quickly review a batch of images (I use & like XnView for this role). Cheers Steveįaststone, XnView & Irfanview are primarily image viewers with some editing tools but they are not meant to be true raw processors - they may even be processing the embedded jpg rather than the true raw data, which would defeat the purpose of shooting raw in the first place. Any recommndation here, ease of use and good editing options are important. I am also checking out faststone, xnview, ivanview, gimp and. Is lighzone good for jpegs too? As I will start there. Thanks for everyone's advice I will try lighzone then. The sole purpose of a trial version is to find out yourself if you like it or not or if it meets YOUR expectations, not others, but YOURS! "before you do a download of trial software, in spite of the cranky, mean spirited 'advice' you've been given so far." Life is full of compromise, this is just one of them. No photo tool is perfect, the secret is finding a tool you can live with. If the only stumbling block for you is NR, then I would say you have found a winner, since if you follow the pattern of most people who are serious about photography, you will likely buy an add on NR tool anyway. I would say to download it and make sure. If you think Lightzone appeals to you, but you aren't sure of the NR capabilities. And while they might wonder if they bought the absolutely best one for the money, I've never heard anyone say that they have never needed what they bought! Almost everyone I know has bought a NR add on tool at some point in their photographic life. Regardless of your software of choice, there will always be photos that will benefit from from the use of Topaz Denoise (what I use) or one of its competitors. ![]() The truth is, none of the noise reduction capabilities of any of the editor/workflow programs are the equal of separate standalone NR utilities. I would rate ACDSee a bit higher in NR than LZ, but I never felt LZ was BAD at NR. Many downloads like Lightzone 3.8 may also include a crack, serial number, unlock code, cd key or keygen (key generator). Simplifying your search should return more download results. The NR (in Lz or in ACDSee) wasn't as good as other products, but I thought they were good enough for the non challenging photos, noise-wise. To create more accurate search results for Lightzone 3.8 try to exclude using commonly used keywords such as: crack, download, serial, keygen, torrent, warez, etc. I use an earlier version of Lz and I liked it well enough, though I eventually settled on ACDSee Ultimate 8 as my daily production software. Before you do a download of trial software, in spite of the cranky, mean spirited 'advice' you've been given so far. ![]()
